With an annual passenger turnover predicted to exceed 50 million by 2020, China’s newest and largest travel hub puts a new spin on the concept of mass transit.
Opened for the 2010 World Expo, the Hongqiao Transport Hub is one of the world’s most uniquely integrated transport centres. Covering a land area larger than 26 square kilometres, it comprises Hongqiao Airport and serves as an interchange for five subway lines, a bullet train to Beijing and the Maglev Train connection to Pudong Airport.
